Small Pirate Galley - Barbaroja

Posted by Gowan on 31 Dec 2016, 04:10

Well I thought it best to end the year on a high note. And as we count down the hours until 2017 (less for me than most of you) I thought I would present to you the final ship of the year: Barbaroja - red beard! A light pirate galley that is a curse upon shipping along the Oronegrean coast. This one is an odd vessel based off ancient designs if those designs had been picked up on by pirates in the golden age of piracy. From her armour plated bow to her two rudder oars this is not something you want to face when the wind is low. But alas I could have made so many more ships :( I could have had boats coming out of my ears if I had really worked hard. I would forever have been known as Gowan the mini-shipwright! But this will have to be it for 2016 :yeah:

As usual there are a few more pictures on my blog. But other than that, happy New Year!

So Gowan what have you got planned? I hear you ask. A Junk, a fluyt, a cool little gunboat (take a look at this one!) and maybe, if I am truly made enough, a Frigate! A frigate to crown all my other ship building achievement. Where would I put such a ship? I have no clue it will probably be close to three quarters of a metre long! But it would well be worth it.

Thank-you sir! I just realised how cluttered the table was. You can see the shoe box where I keep my 18th century figs. (it's actually right next to me right now). Happy new year

Cool pirate ship, Gowan! Since you like to build boat's and ship's so much, perhaps you might want to make one for me, like this one i.e.

"I must make boats", added Gowan, the shipwright.
Jolly good.

It was and still is the case, that eventually even pirates like to stretch a peg-leg or two on dry land.So with that in mind,i thought_____

:sst: "thinking is dangerous where BB,is concerned."
 "BB,can tend to get the obvious over complicated."

___a façade of dusty Pirate Inns, one leaning against another, in a colourful display, with wooden painted signs swinging upon a breeze well set in place by Gowan, would certainly be a grand sight for miniatures to have fun in a
Port Royal type setting. That place before it sank into the sea,was a hotbed for Pirates to tie up their boats, and drink grog. ( Jamaican Rum! ) It would sizzle a rib loose if one drank to much.

Blind Pugh, Treasure Island drank himself that way,
:sst: "and was near ribb-less too."
That's right, :-D BB
