Triumph of Titus Flavius Vespasianus

Posted by praga on 05 Jan 2017, 12:26

The triumph of the one - the trauma of an entire people.

The construction of the base I have already described in "ancient Rome". Now the diorama is ready.
Most of the figures are of strelets. Roman Senate, Praetorian, Roman Market etc. I like this company more and more - very good ideas which are always better implemented.
The scene with the menorah, the two trombones, Titus and the shield bearer are made of resin from Germania. The officer on the horse and the centurion are from Italerie.
Best regards, Jens Hilgraf

Now the scenery has come to life - very well done!
The figures from different manufacturers blend nicely together, when a consistent painting style hides the differences in sculpting, as demonstrated in your work here.

Yes, that's what was missing before, some figures! Really like it a lot. And I can only agree about Strelets!

I knew it will be awesome. I only think that wash on white tunics is a bit too strong.

I like the scenery which is wonderful done and realistic. You did an impressive job to create with regular plastic-civilians and senators this vivid scene.
My critique: the temple-columns on the left side - they are only three and they standing without any capitals (capitals make the difference between a column and a pillar!) very far away from the end of the rooftop - I get anxious about this construction! The fore-fronts of the temples are also very flat and without any decoration and colour especially on the ceiling. Have a closer look to reconstructions of roman temples ( the antique was colourful and not white like Winkelmann presumed!) And the architrave was always decorated with patterns and not naked.

And some more civilians would been also a great gain for your diorama - to make it still more impressive. Titus victory procession was a great one!

These are only my personal recommendations for a already wonderful done diorama....

And I like also very much the grumpy senators!

Hello.

This is not my period but the whole thing reminds of the HBO Series, Rome which was also a triumph.

Excellent work and the shadows emphasise the Roman sunshine.

Best wishes,

Chris

Very nice figures added!
I really like your style of painting.
It fits very well with the painting style of your buildings.
Lively and realistic.
I do like the extreme white highlighting especially on the civilians. But that's just a choice of style and a matter of taste.
Sun and blue sky work excellent in some of these pictures :yeah:

This is again a kind of scenery, in which one likes to look several times into every corner because one is afraid to overlook details otherwise. :eh:

A great Dio that catch a historical moment.

Pleps who cry: "Give me an T, give me an F, give me an V, that`s Titus Flavius Vespasianus"!
A row to be bored Imperial guards. Her NCO behind is absorbed in thought of his date.
One officer sweat in the sun sitting on a horse. Four do hard working. To wear together at her shoulder the war trophy. Guys with the forerunner of the alphorn do the necessary sound. Victorious row of Imperial guards to the far right. Now with a hearing disorder.
The poor man who have to carry in front of him the golden standard of the X legion. The hole way up from Masada.
Flavius Silva and the Imperator himselve.
Around the column the enviers.

Very very well done.

I don't know much about Roman architecture, but your buildings look fantastic to me. The figures, as others have said, fit the spirit of the diorama well. It really tells a story.
