Why are the feet of the last guy chopped off?
Actually, the figures are like this, straight out of the box, as if the feet were sunk into the base.
Can't imagine why, but I believe this set was one of the last offerings Italeri put on the market before the company folded in the 90's.
Their last figurines were almost systematically too tall for the scale, no matter from what period, or what army it was.
All I know is that, even with sunken feet, these are almost 28 mm: I doubt natives in the 18th-19th century were THAT tall.
So much so, I will have to use a bit of "forced perspective" to use them in a dio with figurines from other makers.
