Airfix ACW

Posted by MABO on 08 Jan 2017, 22:08

Inspired by Pauls ACW Wargaming Project - have a look here: http://paulsbods.blogspot.de - I started the new year painting some of my old Airfix figures. Last year I was not really busy, but I hope that will change this year.

AIRFIX,are certainly a challenge to paint.
I could never dare take mine out of the box.
I just did not wish to suffer.
Your painting on these tiny fellows looks really cool Jan,and the Reb flag a waving wins the day.

Perhaps a Group Build for FIGZ ?
But not AIRFIX, for me. BB

Have painted some of the confederates both as military and civilians and I like them a lot. Good work on yours! It's not often I've seen them.

Looks great Jan! Sometimes it's fun to paint those old Airfix figures. Look at the Arabian figures I painted last year. ;-)

Didn't you give a tip about the GB with these pictures?

I LOVE Airfix !
Even the weird-looking French Napoleonic Infantry.
Wish they re-released ALL of their sets - Guards Band, Moon Landing, High Chapparal, Zoo Animals, Civilians, everything.

I have the British Guards Band, and the British Colour Party by the hundreds unpainted.
They are nostalgic toy town type soldiers which I like.
Highly collectable in boxes. They were the first figures to be produced by AIRFIX, way back in the year 1960.Originals were red so needed no painting, well children were not into painting figures in the 60`s they just tipped them out of the box and played with them. My originals were whipped out to a man by Indians and I well remember sticking pins in them which to my young imagination were Mescalero Apache arrows. 1960 Just after the dead boring Football Results,Boots and Saddles played Saturday evening on the Telly at 5 pm ,and always feature Apache in each episode. Dear Mabo, you made a great job on these classics...!

They maybe not too well sculpted but, for people my age, sure they have an unbeatable charm...

Congratulations!

Years without seeing those figures, agree with Beano Boy, these old figures are a challenge to paint and you did very well. I was not here last year but for sure it will be good to see more of your work with the "classics" this year :yeah:

Here is the last batch of figures, now wearing more than trousers. ;-)

Now, after I have finished them, I will start with the GB.
