I wanted to try out a different painting technique on a set of horses so I chose this old set for that task.
The flash was terrible so I set to cleaning it off the horses and re-sculpting between the fore and rear legs.
The paint job I was quite pleased with ( grey undercoat, two coats of brown artists acrylic ink and a final coat of sepia wash) so I cleaned off the flash on the 11 riders and painted them as 7th and 18th (sort of).
I also re-sculpted the legs to remove the cavalry boots and have them in campaign trousers.
They turned out quite well and I'm wishing I'd spent a little more time cleaning the flash and mould lines from them. These old Airfix sets are not as primitive as some would have us believe.
