10th New York City Volunteers

Posted by despertaferro on 02 Feb 2017, 11:22

Hi friends,

For my first Union Infantry unit I picked an unusual one... :-D

Most of the Union Zouave regiments wear the traditional blue jacket/red trousers or full blue; but the 10th NYC had this brown/light blue combination that will make them so noticeable amongst the full blue Union lines.

Figures are from Hat, Italeri, Strelets and Emhar. I hope you like them and many thanks for your time!

The blue bellies are next on my list… ;-)

As usual a very nice mix of figures from you! And I guess that not all of them are originally for ACW. :-D

Good looking regiment there! :yeah:
Quite inspiring to see such an unusual unit from a conflict which is generally associated with its supposedly dreary & substitutable uniform style for both belligerents.

From the utilised figures I like the proportions of the Emhar FPW ones best.
Italeri ACW & Strelets CW figures work surprisingly good together.

Thanks for sharing your work. Good paint job!

Who would need a regular army besides so many nicely painted volunteers? :xd:

Did they lose there Colonel during the battle? I know that the Louisiana Tiger Zouave's did. A great use for the fallen officer figure.

I love those Zouaves, very cool unit. Once again it is fun to see your mix of figures from different manufacturers. Painted up to your usual high standard, especially since your output is so prolific.

I think my favorite part of the whole thing is that flag. It looks marvelous with the gold tassles.

Thank you very much for your comments...

Gunnar, you're right... three figures are from Crimean War sets: the Emhar
bayonet charging guy and the flag holder and the drummer from Strelets. The Strelets falling officer is from an ACW set.

davbenbak1: I'm sorry, but I do not know... In fact, this figure comes in a Union set, so my guess is that it had not been designed with this aim.

Erich and Tom... I'm not sure but, for your comments, seems to me that you're mistaken some figures... Most part of them are form Hat (the most slender and small guys...) and there is just one from Ehmar (my favourite one...): the charging folk with the most baggy trousers ever seen... :-D

Many thanks!
