Nasty Fast patrol boat

Posted by Kostis Ornerakis on 04 Feb 2017, 20:39

These days a health problem keeps me away from my beloved hobby. :(
So my contribution to the forum is a 7 years old scratchbuilt project. :-D

Most impressive!

Clean build, fantastic amount of details.
Great paint. Nice done figures. The one who leave the motor room.
I like the way and place where the crew fix the rubber boat.

Masterpice!
:notworthy:

There are some similarity in the layout with the Airfix Vosper MTB.

Dear friends thank you for your nice comments. :-D
@ Erik
The hull is rather a shortened US WW2 PT boat.
The name of the craft is: Andromeda and she is one of six identical crafts ordered from Greek Navy to Norway. The Norwegians called the class Tjeld. Later US used this type of graft in Vietnam war and renamed the class Nasty.
When Greek Navy replaced them with missile boats, she served under Greek Coast Guard as patrol boat. If anyone is interested in the plans that I have in my hands after a courtesy of a noble Norwegian sir, I can post them. :-D

Wow, this forum is developing more and more into the home of fantastic scratch-built boats, it seems. Very impressive work, full of details.
And I hope your health recovers soon!

There are enough human figures on board to deserve a honorable place in this Gallery!

Your work puzzled me since yesterday. This looks so professional. Are you a professional disguised as a hobbyist?

I think many of us like to read and see more details about how you made all this.

I think exactly that is where the connection between Kostis and me started last year. I do love model boats but I love them more as soon as a full crew is added and exactly those human figures are missing in shipmodels most of the time since the modeling of ships started many centuries ago.

One couldn't describe it better. :-D

I have no WIP photos on this. I also was lucky enough to have a bunch of photos of the details of the particular ship. At the time of the build, I was member of the crew of the Naval museum of Crete and it was easy for me to have them.
Perhaps you noticed the 2 central heating ventilators used at homes, that have replaced the originals ones, at the sides of the bofors tub. ;-) :-D

To have one, a positive credit from a modeller like you is really important.
BUT for me is more important to hear nice words from a friend like you. :notworthy:

Kostis, I wish very much to hear your health is better already. :sweatdrop:

And although much praise has been given for your boat, I will not fail to utter my words of appreciation too. You posted your latest pics certainly not with this intention, but in my eyes they only prove what I've already felt several times while looking at your work: You have a very wide range of knowledge, skill and imagination. And you connect all these points in a great way.

I'm looking forward to the next beautiful works from your hand... ;-)
