A wonderfull piece of Art in the manner of the old masters. Look for the lights on the shoes: just little lines. Or look at the face: only shadows, no eyes, no mouth, deeply seen and analysed structure of the human shape. Stunning. And the NMM of the helmet remembers to Rembrandt: a few stripes, a few dots - perfect, the eye of the beholder makes the work, not the artist. very inspiring, one must have more bravery to use the brush. No oversophisticated blending, but resolute setting of paint. I am amazed.

That is marvelous work, Eugenij. I can't compliment as artfully as the others have because I lack the words. But I will say this piece ends the debate whether eyes should be painted in this scale. You approach to present them as shadows has proved decisive. Another thing, I really like that cape! Did you use oils?

Probably not! This little masterpiece is the Renaissance in full splendor, no doubt.

@ Eugenij

Really fantastic work.
The Miniature is a special Miniature for a convention in Mainz (Germany) a few years ago.

Excellent observation. And I agree 101%.

Can it be better? Yes, but I don't like to paint figures from Alex.... :xd: :xd: :xd:
(just kidding, of course... for those who didn't got it ;-) )

Thank you, friends!
Paintjob on this figure might be better. because I've changed the flat, when i paint Medici. There were few light on my new workplace and I ignored some details. I didn't paint eyes and mouth. On the one hand face lost nicety, on the other hand adsence eyes and mouth add expression, character etc. In my mind, Othen, in this scale eyes make face like cartoon.
