Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to its combat efficiency when employed. ie, at Ligny, or the 1/2 Grenadiers battalion sweeping the Prussians out of Plancenoit.

The Grenadiers a Cheval were I believe very effective at Eylau.

However, you are right about losses. The 1/4 and 2/4 Chasseurs battalions were combined at Waterloo due to the losses at Ligny as an example.

Whilst they were known as ' the Immortals', using them in action soon proved otherwise. However, even with the crippling losses at Waterloo their advance gave the Duke a nervous time with Halketts brigade and Maitlands guards faltering briefly.

So, in summary a most potent force when employed but a finite resource as a result.

Timeline 7.50PM

Tirallieurs from 1st brigade De La Jeune Garde, Lieutenant-general Pierre Comte Barrois, assisted by elements from 12th Infantry Division, Lieutenant-General Baron Marc-Nicholas Pecheux assault the Ferme den Bas.



Elements from 2nd Brigade Marechal-de-camp Dupeyroux, commence their advance from St Amand towards ligny as the French artillery begins to redeploy through the village.





2nd Brigade De La Jeune Garde, Marechal-de-camp Guye supported by 7th Infantry Division, Lieutenant-general Baron Jean-Baptiste Girard attempt to ‘pin’ the Prussians before Brye. If successful this will allow the Guard advancing from Ligny to envelop their rear and destroy them.



Feldmarschall Blucher is organising the defence of Ligny in person . In his absence Generallieutenant August Graf Neidhardt von Gneisenau orders the withdrawal of all Prussian forces west of Ligny in order to prevent their envelopment.



The skies begin to darken to an inky blackness as the storm arrives.



The gunfire is drowned out by thunder and the dark is torn by sheet lightning as the Guard move through a blazing Ligny scenting victory.

Hello Mr Crynns it's the fire hazard here.

Thank you for your kind comments they are most appreciated.

The fire is real using my tin foil, balsa wood and barbecue lighter fuel technique. It did go nuclear as flames seem to start 1/72 scale and then get 54mm aspirations plus.

Thankfully the church itself was saved in the nick of time.

The fires in the houses are the brainchild of my wife, ' Der Feldmarschall'. She suggested rechargeable tea lights which I was dubious about. However as always she was right and the result is pleasing when combined with theatrical haze.

HQ also suggested a torch beam to replicate lightning which again when mixed with haze produces a most satisfactory effect.

The normal scenes are again benefiting from the haze replicating the vast quantities of smoke generated by Napoleonic battles.

Theatrical haze poses problems for photography but when the elements coincide, so to speak, the results are most pleasing.

i have been informed by Photobucket that unless I pay $399.99 my pictures are no Longer available on the forum.

This is hugely disappointing and I notice other members are affected as well.

my project is nearly completion and this is indeed a huge blow.

Thank you however to everyone for thei interest over the last two years. Thirty thousand enquiries is beyond belief.

Oh no oh no !!!

I am really sorry for you, Mr. Dodson, to hear this.

It is a situation I am often thinking of myself: Photobucket felt very unreliable from the first day I used it. When will this happen to me? How can it be solved for you? So many questions run through my head now:

-Is it ransom ware?
-Is Photobucket responsible?
-Did you open some attachment you should not have?
-Do you use an Apple Macintosh or a PC computer?
-Did you backup your pictures in your computer at home too?
-Is it part of the world wide ransome ware attack that struck Ukraine hardest?

I understood at the moment if you pay that amount you will not get your files back anyhow but maybe that is only for something going on in The Netherlands for the last days.

My thoughts are with you Mr. Dodson.

I joined Photobucket three years ago at the suggestion of a forum member.

My account was fee free until today.

I notice that Hellboy has lost his input as well.

Perhaps Bennoe can advise as to the best way of dealing with this as I personally do not make anything out of my postings other than enjoyment.

I can not afford the fee every year.

Perhaps it's time to do my own web site but I would prefer to continue to use our wonderful forum.

Ps. My work on HAT and TMP has also been blocked.

This is a disaster! It burns my butt stuff like this can happen - essentially holding you for ransom.
I haven't used Photobucket but my Picassa account became unwieldly so I've switched to copying images from my (still free) blog with Blogger. If I want to share pictures but don't want them posted on the blog I drop them into an unpublished blog post (called Photo Dump) and copy from there. If you want, you never even have it have a published blog.
Just one work around suggestion so you can continue to share your amazing work, although it does mean learning your way around Blogger a bit.
