2nd Battalion King's German Legion

Posted by thomaspicton on 17 Aug 2017, 13:31

Dear Forum members,

For my next square I present 2nd Battalion, The King's German Legion. The figures are mostly vintage 20mm - Hinton Hunt, Alberken, Douglas and Kriegspeiler, although those firms did not make kneeling figures, so the front rank is mostly conversions from various plastic sets, ACW and Napoleonic.

Your grandpa start with the first one, right?

The importance of 3D color printer is huge! Just wash and dry brushing.

Another prodigious output Mr P.

I personally do not think that eyes and lips work well in 20 mm and prefer moustaches to add personality. Unfortunately they were not popular with British troops so I will try the wash to add grime as per Mr Crynns suggestion some time ago.

The research on your posts is most useful and I hope you do not mind me pinching some of it for ideas.

Best wishes,

Chris

14 to go!?! What a spectacle that will be to see! In the meantime, I'm sure I'm one of many enjoying seeing them develop. Keep it up!

Many thanks to you all. I agree that eyes and lips look quite silly, but then the camera can be cruel too close up in any scale, particularly 1/72 when painting at speed. I shall try the dry brush idea. And I agree, the British didn't have any truck with facial furniture until the Victorians. Chris, steal away - plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery - I'd certainly nick your photographic skills if only I knew how! I'm presently working on two Brunswick squares - much quicker than the British or KGL.
