Bloody Run 1763

A little history:

The Battle of Bloody Run was fought during Pontiac's Rebellion on July 31, 1763 on what now is the site of Elmwood Cemetery. In an attempt to break Pontiac's siege of Fort Detroit, about 250 British troops attempted to make a surprise attack on Pontiac's encampment.
Pontiac was ready and waiting, possibly alerted by French settlers, and defeated the British at Parent's Creek two miles (3 km) east of the fort. However, he did not accomplish the destruction of this British force which would have greatly demoralized the British and dissuaded more British efforts to break the Indian siege of Fort Detroit. The creek, or run, was said to have run red with the blood of the 20 dead and 34 wounded British soldiers and was henceforth known as Bloody Run. The attack's commander, Captain James Dalyell, was one of those killed. After learning of Dalyell's death, General Jeffrey Amherst offered a £200 bounty to anyone who would kill Pontiac.
The famous frontiersman Robert Rogers was one of the British commanders in the battle.

I wanted to make a diorama using two nice sets: Italeri indians warriors and Waterloo 1815 Roger's rangers.
But to doing more similar the sizes of these figures, I changed ranger's heads for Italeri green jackets heads, Also there are some modifications more.

Very nice painted figures, water effect and nature.
The scene is guarded by trees. In the center is the river and the action.
It is not so easy to do fleeing or retreading soldiers. The pose in the figure sets are most standing or attacking.

What I do like too is the story what happened in the beginning.

the most difficult in a diorama is to actually give "life" to it. Because of the mini's poses it is pretty hard, but you managed to create real scene, full of life, blood and water : I can almost hear the Indians shouting

Splendid splashing display! I like it very much. Most certainly water movement creates lots of problems,well for me anyway. You seemed to have nailed it. Meaning: solved that rapid movement depicting rushing water. The Diorama is well presented with the tree`s framing it nicely,and this helps keep the eyes focused upon the actual struggle of the fighting scene in the middle. I like the angle shots especially those taken from the back ,instead of just relying upon the front view being presented. All in all,a great piece of hobby work. Well done. BB

In fact, firstly I though in that film scene for imited it. Although I saw that very difficult and laborious (the ship, the camp, make my own trees, etc ). Finally, I prefered an scene more free and when I readed about the battle "bloody run", it inspirated me for this job.

The next work with trees I will try to make them myself. There are an interesting tutorial in this forum of Mr. Cyins, I think.
About working with artificial water if you use some kind of medium gel it is very easy to do a good job. You just need patience and experiment a bit.

This looks excellent. As a real beginner at painting, I'm trying to work out how best to paint my Italeri Natives. Which techniques did you use to get the detail on the skin (the varied skin tone and muscle definition etc)? All I've ever done is just use one shade of paint and just do the whole torso/body part in it. Thanks!
