Superb shading and simulation of light effects. I also like how the water turned out. Keep 'em coming...

who said that in 1/72 scale you cannot reach the same quality of painting as in higher scales?
This is a masterpiece, D! Bring the others on!!

Speechless!!! It is hard to believe that the figure is of scale 1/72.

The painting is masterful !!! :yeah: The painting of the skin and the clothing looks very very realistic. Great the game of light and shadow !!! I love it ... :-D

Congratulations !!!!

Brilliantly painted figure and the refraction in the water is a very clever idea.

Your work with water effects is improving. Top notch paint work, as usual.

Thanks so much, my friends. It, really, was a pain to do the resin water. I originally aimed at making the whole water part visible such that you could see the ocean floor. I actually modeled and painted the ocean floor with flotsam, stones and such:

However, when I attempted to do three pours with increasingly lighter tints of the turquoise, somehow I managed to put too little hardener into the second pour, so when I tried to remove the barriers, it hadn't really hardened - after more than 50 hours. Consequently, it couldn't be sanded and there were a number of cuts and rips in the resin that were really ugly.

So, I decided to put plastic sheet up to the third layer, which now gives the impression that the water is really deep :-) Not what I was aiming for in the beginning, but I like it, nonetheless.

Thanks for watching and best,

D.

Sometimes things do not work out as expected.
Sometimes a disappointment.
Sometimes the spark for a new idea.

Wonderful done.

With your (old) Esci and the (newer) Revell figure you brush clearly out the quality of each mold.

Dear friends,

the new year is but a few days old, but I have finished a miniature I started in December 2017 as a present to a great friend. It is a WWII British Royal Marine Commando, from the old ESCI set (but my set is the re-release from Italeri). Was great fun to paint.

And, for scale, with a Euro Cent-coin:

Thanks for watching. All the best,
