Yet More Polish Infantry (Strelets)

Posted by Marvin on 25 Jan 2018, 20:54

Hello everyone

Having painted the 12th Regiment recently, I decided to finish off the box and attempt the 13th Regiment. Those who saw my last post may recall I fancied having a go at the only Polish regiment to wear white uniforms (captured Austrian uniforms).

They're good fun to paint and this group also includes a drummer (got to love the blue czapka), officer, NCO and flag bearer. I wasn't sure about the 13th Regiment's flag so just went with designs that I'd seen from other Polish regiments.

Would be great to see a box of these marching Poles painted as the Vistula Legion - any takers?! Konrad? Loosingar? ;-)

Dear Marvin,
Simply great! Which washing do you use for shadowing the wihte surface of uniforms?
Thanks. Giovanni.

Thanks Giovanni! I use Vallejo Pale Grey Wash. I base coat in a mixture of Vallejo's Sky Grey and Off White. Then, after the wash, I highlight using Off White.

Quite a successful technique in this instance.

I add one more "nice" to the list above. Always great seeing your work!!
And, again, the turquoise is a good choice: it rocks on those white uniforms!

Getting all white uniforms to look this good is a very impressive achievment.

These figures definately look like lanky bean poles out of the box but I don't notice that on these figures or the ones in your previous post. All I see are spendidly painted troops in beautiful uniforms.

Very nice indeed.

My favorite is the man in pic six. Look a bit like starting for Disco dancing.

Nice painted soldiers.

And "Staying Alive" would be my mantra were I to find myself on a battlefield in a white suit at any point. ;-)
