Pegasus French WWI Infantry

Hope all's well with you forum folk.

Well, I've been painting some WWI French infantry again. Not the Caesar 1914 lot from earlier on in the year but these 1917 figures by Pegasus. Just four scenes featuring some mitrailleuse teams and men lying low. The rest of the figures, I'll try and post soon when they're complete.

I've painted them with white trousers which were utilised in hotter climates and particularly on the Salonica front. I must say that they're great figures by Pegasus, but personally I don't cope at all well with all the gluing and assembly of little plastic pieces!

I really liked these Pegasus figures from Marvin. The white(ish) trousers are a nice touch.

I noticed on a couple of these, and a great number of the ones I bought, that there is a mould mark going right down the middle of the face. That is quite a difficult spot to remove one, without disfiguring the face to an unacceptable degree.

Yes, I noticed that on some too. Bit of a shame. Just something I had to accept on an otherwise very fine figure.

Probably best described as "artistic licence", really - I think it looks nice! On the photos they do come out particularly stark, looking a touch less bright to the eye. My copy of North's "Uniforms of the World War I" encylcopedia does describe the colours of the trousers worn by French infantry in Salonika, Macedonia etc. as being "horizon blue or white trousers". So I suppose one could take it literally.

Also, the cover of the box art featured some nicely painted troops wearing quite starkly white trousers - so that was also an inspiration. I imagine a duller or more canvas look might have been worn in reality.
