Well, it's nearly December and it's getting wintry. Maybe that's what's inspired me to paint this Strelets French army sledge train, making their way back from Moscow in the Russian winter...

The way Winter should be! On a dio! And very nice to see them painted! Isn't it regarded as cheating to use a big cat? Or doesn't cheating apply to cossacks? Had my dog posing with a dio once, but he just looked closely and walked away.

It's hot and humid here so I think I'm enjoying your wintry scene a lot more than the figures in it.

You have painted a very grim picture here Marvin, very skllfully done. Youre painting shows the figures to their best effect, they are very nice sculpts for a sombre subject.

I think the infantryman in the brown greatcoat might stand a chance; and, of course, the sledge might save the General.

That marching French column of old-style Strelets is an slow-burn project. Painting about a dozen figures a year, I'm currently up to 56. I hope to finish the two boxes one day. I thought the sledge would make a nice addition. There's another sledge which I might do one day too.

Think you're right. Any of these will be lucky to make it back alive.

I prefer pets to walk away instead of smashing it all up!

The cat is the star of the show for me. Unfortunately, my two would just walk off with the pieces and I'd never see them again...
