A Grizzly in Grand Teton NP

After a new surgical operation on one hand it's not possible to sculpt. What I already can is hold a brush. That's why I once changed the pages and tried as a painter and photographer. Here is the result ...

Excellent. It looks exactly like the Canadian wilderness.

It needs a tourist approaching it with a lump of bread (& I did see this in Canada. The tourist was dragged away by a Wildlife officer before the bear got its bread...& more).

I thought hand feeding bears was a regular occurance for tourists.

They're magnificent beasts but keeping your distance is more than just a good idea.
They can run 50 metres in 3 seconds. The Canadian joke is you don't have to be faster than a bear, just faster than the next guy.

But back to the diorama. Where does the bear model come from?

The bear is one of Torstens own excellent animal sculpts; I'm currently painting his Highland Cattle, which are very nice. My Boudica has some fine warhounds too.

Had a closer look into Torsten's range at the 2nd Dioramica 2 weeks ago.
Several of his great miniatures caught my interest and we agreed to seal a deal soon.
I want to order a selection of his very nice farm animals in particular.
But his wild animals are quite tempting too, especially the wild boar herd.

Me too and the unavoidable happen. I bought some of these sweetie.
To see the whole range and the close future production was very nice.
Hope to get the dog with the bone and the one with the kitty dogs soon. This will be a small but great addition for Dio`s .

So sorry to hear about your hand operation but hope you can be back to sculpting soon. The grizzly looks great!

All joking aside, a mother and her child were killed by a grizzly this week in the Yukon - locals, not tourists, and people that ran a trap line, so clearly bear savvy! So please, don't feed the bears.

I thank you all very much. That touched me so pleasant that I boarded straight into my private jet. I took another short trip to Colorado once again, and asked the Grizzly to pose a little differently so that you could see him better, especially the legs. See it!

As first and foremost: Happy New Year to you all! I wish you health, strength and inspiration for every single day ...

I had the opportunity over the holidays - sculpting did not quite work out - to grab again to the brush. And to my mobile phone camera. After the experiment with the bear, I wanted to see if I could create something similar with other animals. Well, I'll just show you what came out of it.
