This is the stuff!

The 'Grand manner' in action.

Lots going on, a visual treat to the eye and the ' feel' of the occasion.

The buildings look good and as usual a lot of fine research. I know, from my aquatic Bras digging around that a lot of ' contempory' pictures etc are completely contradictory causing us modellers a huge headache.

The coach is a really nice touch.

Marvellous.

You have inspired me back into the garage, despite the cold.

Aquatic bras, as worn by ladies at the seaside as the top part of their bikinis?! Anyway, many thanks, it's all coming together although where the hell it all goes, I don't know. I'm thinking of holding a meeting of like-minded fanatics to consider this vexatious topic. Somewhere like the National Army Museum would do. Let me know if you'd like to come as you have skills that still evade me.

Good work! I love these big dioramas!

If there were some hobby friends joining together, you might get a huge 1/1 Waterloo diorama. Also with the exact topography. But you would also have to create a lot of space in the Waterloo Visitor Center.

Dear Wolfgang, many thanks and I'm glad you like it. There are some notable Germans who have produced dioramas of the battle - I'm thinking of Thomas Mischak, Hans Slaager,Niels Rullkotter and Arndt Wolfram whose work I have long admired. Then there is 'Mr Waterloo' (Rene Betgem) who seems to have gone a bit quiet of late. And of course for compositional skills there is the incomparable Chris Dodson (he of the aquatic bras). A combined effort by us all would surely produce the required total of British, Dutch-Belgian, Hanoverian, Nassau, Brunswick, Prussian and French forces!

How long did you worked for this diorama? And is the building a own construction - with which materials?

Hi Sansovino, I have about 40,000 figures which are in various states of preparation, some finished others partly done and others unpainted. I've been collecting since 1972. The models are all scratch built and carefully researched. I am building to their proper scale and while I know war gamers tend to use scaled down buildings to fit the reduced number of figures they use for their units, I build to full scale. The models are made of card and painted with acrylic paint. The diorama is constructed in sections made of polystyrene covered with teddy bear fur which is then painted with a dilute acrylic paint to replicate the rye and corn fields of Waterloo. The figures are a mix of metal and plastic with many conversions. Some figures are vintage, others modern. Hope that helps.

Your La Belle Allience model is excellent, the pave looks great, the coaches are very nice, your converted figures work very well and your Guardsmen are magnificent. Well done!
