Hi All,

Thought you might like to see my latest diorama, Roman Mile Fort, using the old Airfix kit as a basis for the fort, I hope you like it.

Very impressive diorama! If I could ever create something like that, I don't know where I would store the thing.

Well done that the marching column do a turn. And the leading column stay already. Each soldier turned by 90° and waiting for new orders.
Also the tent area with the daily duty is nice.

Can you tell us something about the origins of the figures? I am not sure who produced them. And maybe you can try to make some pics without flash.

Great work! It seems to me, that you spend a lot of time creating it.

Hi Mabo,

I can tell you what most of the figures are, the marching and standing inline figures as well as the men doing all the cooking and the troops doing the repairs to the outside of the fort are all Strelets, on the legionnaires I had to change the shields, as there was no way I could do them justice in painting them so I changed the shield for the Hat ones, the Cavalry are from Irregular Miniatures and Newline Designs and last of all the excellent resin figures by Phersu Miniatures, those are the ones hanging around the tents and getting kitted up. The standard bearers and other officers are Newline designs and Strelets, the one setting at the table is Phersu Miniature, Hope that is of help.

Well, do you have any dinner parties on your schedule in the next little bit? If not, your Roman Fort can continue to occupy such valuable territory.

I remember when Phersu showed us his Romans preparing for battle. What an amazing set. It is good to see them painted up and placed in a suitable environment here.

No plans at the moment to have a dinner party thank God!!, so the diorama is safe on the table, I like Leo's figures, they really set off the diorama, I look forward to getting more of his figures for a after the battle diorama not yet, as I only just finish this one.

Very clever cool & magic looking Roman Fort.
Good use of wall hugging plants to mask the line where the actual walls meet.
Just like on model railway layouts.
Fantastic Looking Army too.
:coffee: Interlocking foam boards would make these larger sized diorama`s a real dream to move,
set up, stack and store out of the way. Is that the old AIRFIX ROMAN FORT ? :-D BB

Hi Beano Boy,

Yes it is the old Airfix Kit, and your right I had to use something to hide the area where the walls connected, I'm not that good of a model maker as those parts were scratch built, as I only had one Airfix kit to work with. And thanks glad you like the diorama.

An impressive army which you have placed around the old fortification. I like the different scenes of action and interaction which you have created ... Only one critique: your pathways can have still more traces of wagons, horses and rubbish. They are looking too clean/immaculate for my taste.

Thanks Sansovino, your right of course, it's a stone path, even so it should be a lot dirtier, I will see what I can do to make it look a bit more well used.
