1/72 waffen-ss troops

Posted by lbk9231 on 04 Feb 2019, 11:18

Hi! This would be my first post in here.
I made these german ss figures, using 'waffen ss fall/winter camouflage colors' (Product of AK interactive).
The figures are from Pegasus hobbies. ( the sculpture of the figure was good, but the product is hard to get in korea. So I'm thinking of buying their products by direct buying on amazone.)

Hope you enjoy my work and have a nice day! :-D :-D

You've done a very nice job on those. I think the practice of using the assistant gunner as a giant bi-pod was pretty rare.

I think so too
The assistant gunner might have lost his hearing ability.
Even though I made it because there were those position's figure, I think that is really dangerous position.

Welcome to the forum.
And nicely done! Yes, I expect it wasn't done that often but it's a pose modelled more than once in WWII Germans so it must have been photographed at least once!
And I always like it, if for no tother reason than the wackiness of it.

Very nice painting on figures and vehicle, its weathering is quite amazing!
About Germans firing from comrade shoulder, it seems more common than expected..just for curiosity I google searched -mg34 on shoulder- and I found several example pictures....

Common. It was even shown in the Manuals, from;

Not my period either but I was impressed by this: I think you've done a very nice job on the cammo smocks and the painting of the tank is terrific.

I think that is a very interesting pose for a pair of figures, but obviously occupational health and safety wasn't a big issue at the time.

Interesting photos, the number two is not just providing a rest but he's also pulling down on the sling to prevent the weapon riding up with the recoil.

The variation with the assistant gunner facing towards his comrade seems to make a bit more sense. His ears are further from the end of the barrel, and he can help with the recoil.

But I still believe it was exceedingly rare for this pose to be employed, based on everything I have read. Training manuels do not always reflect actual practice; also, the National Socialist Government were keen propogandists. There are countless examples of scenarios being created artificially simply so that they could be photographed.

I could see this machine gun pose as a way to portray an exaggerated sense of teamwork, camaraderie, disregard for personal safety in service to the Fatherland, and the like.

Welcome to the forum, hope you'll enjoy it!
The painting on the figures is excellent and the tank looks very good as well.
You invested quite some work into this Italeri quickbuild kit (?) and the result is really convincing.

Thanks for sharing your fine work with this crowd.
