Good use of color once again. Tell me, do you cut off the original bases of the figures before attaching them to the terrain, or do you incorporate the supplied bases into the larger unit plate? Your transition between bottom of the boot and the earth beneath is very well executed, and something I tend to have trouble with.

Bluefalchion, I leave the bases on. I sometimes trim the edges, bevelling them so they flow naturally to the base underneath.

Take a look at a tutorial I did a while ago on my basing technique:

Thanks for the prompt reply and the link to the excellent tutorial. The matte varnish at the end is sprayed on, correct? What product would you recommend?

The varnish is sprayed on, indeed. Unfortunately, I can't recommend a brand of varnish spray, for I use a local product here in Brazil you certainly wouldn't find in your country.

Just go for whatever good hobby varnish options you can find close to you. The trick of spraying varnish is not to overdo, lest the miniatures may end up with a glassy finish. I spray varnish very lightly, and from a greater distance than I do the basecoat spray.

More Swedes with their stylish colour combo, very nice. :-)

The large size close up pics on the blog are well worth taking a look at, they really show how good the painting is.
