Elephants for Zama

... And Raphia. Finding time for the hobby recently has been difficult. When I have had the opportunity I have not always been in the right frame of mind to enjoy it. So I haven't been very productive but I have still been tinkering away.

With these 20mm Newline Designs African elephants I now have the elements for Zama with Lost Battles. They will be useful for Raphia also, Ptolemy's African elephants facing off against Antiochus' Indian elephants:

Have you considered the sieges of the Punic Wars?
They're doable, particularly with the photo-copied buildings supplied. Easily upsized from 15 to 20mm

@Bluefalchion interesting point about how the elephants felt! they certainly are very intelligent and sensitive creatures. Ptolemy was unable to maintain his Indian elephant corps without access to new elephants. Their current stock of Indian elephants must not have been willing or able to have offspring so the Ptolemaic kingdom had to resort to the local small African elephants for the battle of Raphia.

@Ochoin thanks for those links! I would love to conduct sieges I have always wanted to have a miniature classical city! I think I would struggle to build and store one though. I will have a proper look at their website I am intrigued by their rules.

I've never used paper (well, card, really) buildings but if you have templates, any damaged ones could be easily discarded.

The good lads at Little Wars TV also do a Youtube vid on building the city. Like you, I am tempted.

I am going to have a good explore of their website and videos. I came across their Trebia video some time ago in which the Roman players were not told it was the Trebia and had to suffer Mago's ambush much to their frustration! I am intrigued by the 'Age of Hannibal' rules. Thanks again for sharing Donald!

I don't use these rules for Ancients but TWW is a pretty nice forum with people nearly as nice as the ones here.
If you have the time, join in.There's a few 1/72 fans but certainly another wouldn't hurt!
