As far as using the bamboo skewer goes, I think it works ok. I wonder if some kind of thin, stiff wire would work (something like floral wire that is dark green and comes in different thicknesses)?

Welcome back :yeah: ...I did wonder what happened to you.
I tried Florist wire ...a slight tip to any side, it warped and then it bent. Then piano wire. It didn´t bend but warped and the balloon bounced up and down until coming to a rest about 3cm´s from the base. I´ve got another idea that, if it works will look a bit more realistic.

It´s not too difficult. The most difficult part is getting the balloon more or less the right shape and adding the ropes Holding the basket.
I was going to take a couple of in Progress pics but it ended up as a "do it now or never" Project. I might make another, not the gas Generators, just the balloon, so I could take pics of the stages.
