Amazon War Mammoth

Posted by steve_pickstock on 02 Jul 2019, 21:48

This is Monmouth, he is the war mammoth for my Amazon army for Dragon Rampant.
Monmouth is a Speira Mammoth, the base is mdf flocked and with tufts and various makes of flowers.
The howdah/panniers are made out of plastic card with paperclips bent to represent a bent wooden frame. It's painted to look like bull's hide.
The crew are all Red Box Amazons.

That is so Woolly Mammoth Cool. i love the painting style and base too.
Yes indeed it`s all so nice.

i would use this if i could in the realms of fantasy and with mounted paper guns blast away forging a gap in the enemy line. He would have to be quite stone age deaf though of course, but also very brave.

Only Wishful Thinking on my part i do believe? :-D BB

Yeah! Because Amazons aren't exotic enough. An Amazon War Mamoth, I love it, what a combination of wonderful things.

The howdah build is very good and the painting of that lovely Speira model is excellent. The Amazons are beautiful and really, they fit in so well here they could have been made for the purpose.

Quite magnificent, their opponents are going to be awestruck.

In terms of historical accuracy, I see a problem here: I'm not sure if the number of yellow dots on the borders of the howdah is really correct.

But besides this admittedly minor aspect, this project is really impressive, excellently painted and one can see that you did a lot of research on the historical background of Amazon war mammoths. Great (in all meanings of the word)!

It seems too be a hot day since there are quite a lot of scantilly clad women here today! Cool idea and nice job!

Fantastic work, steve_pickstock. It reminds me both the Oliphaunts from The Lord of the Rings movies and the Mycenaean War Chariots due to the cow skin covering the crew platforms. ;-)

Congratulations.

Santi.
