HaT British Heavy Dragoons 8033

Posted by Kekso on 22 Apr 2020, 17:27

After very, very, very (but really very) long time. I've painted some 1/72's... Nappies, but of course :xd:
Mediocre painter, poor photographer and not that good figures... and here is the result.
But I hope that my dear friend Aaron (Bluefalchion) will see that I didn't gave up on historicals in 1/72 scale ;-)

Well, don't waste too much time on this topic... there are so many beautiful projects on this forum to look at. Stay well and keep distance :occasion:

Do not start fishing for compliments. Like your other units these heavy cavalrymen are a very fine work again!

I don't

I don't consider myself as great painter since I see so many better on this forum (ok, that is of less importance as long as we enjoy our hobby).

I am poor photographer. I know that when I see my figures in real life and on photos.
But please, don't tell my wife about that ;-)

And figures are old and poor. Luckily, that is not my fault :xd:

Very nice indeed. great painting and the figures are an intimidating sight, the way heavy cavalry should be.

HaT's horses weren't the prettiest things at this time but You've really brought these to life.

I really don't care for these figures, but I love what you have done with them. And, of course, it is great to see you doing some historical minis again.

My painting has ground to a standstill with work pressure and kids getting to an age where they need the vast majority of my spare time. But I hope to take up my brush once the world returns to some semblance of normalcy.

Since these are dragoons, wouldn't they ride to the fight, then dismount? Yet they all have their swords out. I still think they are great, regardless. Thanks for posting.

These old Hat classics have their faults, no docked tails, weird sword positions etc but you have really brought them to life.

Magnificent painting never mind fitting the swords into the holes so that they look more natural.

Excellent stuff.

Best wishes,

Chris

Mediocre painter? Nonsense - these are fabulously done! :-D I always think anyone who can make the old HaT figures look great has got real skill. It's a case of the painter lifting the figures into something better than they deserve to be.

I'll be really proud if they were mine...

I hope you're ok

Yep, another case of so-so figures being brought to a new level by a skilled painter. Very nice Kekso! Beautifully done and I particularly love the rich colors you achieve.

Have to repeat what the others have said, really beautiful work on some fairly uninteresting models. You've really brought them to life!

And if you're a mediocre painting I dread to think what I am ;)

I compared your effort with mine and no I won't let others do the same comparison! I can just say that yours really have a place in this forum and mine don't! :-D And, no, I won't repaint them. Not yet at least.

We have expression in Croatia. The translation is something like this:
"Even blind chicken sometimes picks a seed" It means that one can score by accident if he tries for long enough. :xd:
My Batman proofs that. I got good photos ;)

Go on, do yours. All I remember is some plastic figures dipped in paint that we almost couldn't see because of the really bad photos! :-D

Hey man
the figures look overwhelming …
the work and effort you invested here paid off.
I can only agree with the others... you did a fantastic job.
