Mayan Pyramid

Hello everyone! In these pandemic days, I have found time to try something different. Let me show you my first scratchbuilt scenery element, a Mayan pyramid.







It's made of polystyren and painted, that's all.

I hope to see a lot of Mayan buildings everywhere on the web soon.
We had Orctober for October, we should replace May by Maya, and paint as many Mayan persons and buildings as possible

You're right, I have this point to explain. The pyramid was intended to be a scenery element for my Maya army (in construction), and also for 28mm Lizardmen.

On the second picture above, there are 4 warriors fighting each other: 2 of them are Aztec invaders, while the two others are Mayas, defending their city. The Mayas are painted as Classical Maya, after the Bonampak frescoes, painted during the 8th century AD, an example below:



The Aztec Empire appeared during the 14th century AD, its expansion was stopped by the brutal arrival of the Conquistadores at the beginning of the 16th century AD. But the Aztecs (who called themselves 'Mexicas', by the way) had contact with the Mayas of the Post-classic period that remained in the Yucatan peninsula, even if the latter had mostly abandoned the large cities of the classical period.

Since there are no Post-classic Mayan figures, I use the classical ones to represent them

I like unusual subjects in our hobby.
The pyramid is very successful and the pictures show it very well.
Unfortunately, you don't show any large pictures of the painted figs.

There is a real one where at a certain point of the day two Giant Anaconda, one either side of the steps can be seen to slither down.

i have often wondered why the giant snakes
don't slither upwards in shadowy display ?
