Roman Centurion

Posted by Ray.Caruana on 29 Jun 2020, 22:53

Hi friends,

Just finished this Roman Centurion by CW-Miniatures which I painted as a break from the Schiltron diorama. The skintones were painted by my friend Harold Stivala as a demo during our annual model exhibition in February. I hope you like :-)

The crest was redone with flattened copper wire and magic sculpt...

Very painterly! I especially like the dust on the cloak hem.
And the figure really does have a lot of character - looks like a real human being, I think.

Hey Ray, you've painted 54mm figure and resized picture so it looks like 1/72, admit it :xd:

Awesome job you've done here Ray!
Especially the sand on the red cape in the last picture, cool detail!
Cool figures, maybe I have to try one of these as well.

Kostis, it's a CW-Miniatures figure, not in production anymore as far as I know.

A great figure per se, but you ennobled it eminently with your superb painting style. :yeah:
A pure joy to look at this excellent work. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

As I wrote above, those face and arms were painted by my friend Harold Stivala as a personal demo to show me how to mix any skintone using only the primary colours (his 1st. 72nd. BTW :-) ). Harold is one of the best modellers around, awarded Platinum medal at SMC 2019. Check out his work on Facebook and enjoy ;-)

Those skintones are a mix of red blue and yellow? But white, too. I hope.

Marvelous stuff.

Oh yes I saw, I meant that his work was very impressive. All his work is great actually, I can't believe that it was only achieved by primary colours, fantastic work on his Facebook too.
