World War II

Posted by ADM on 21 Sep 2019, 18:30

This is a big diorama in 1/72 scale (12 meter long, or 40 feet) representing the most important battle of world war II, used for wargames of course, and I played so many battle on it ;-)

I finished this one around 25 years ago and I worked on it for mostly 10 years (while working on others diorama too). I took those photos a few days ago, this is how it look like right now. Esci, Airfix, Revell and Italeri make the bulk of the figures, planes and vehicules, it's what was available at this time. The last addition of few more planes and vehicules was made in 1998 I think. I removed some broken vehicules who fell on the floor, less than ten, this is acceptable losses for so much time spent on it, but appart from that this still look like exactly the way it was when finished.

You can see winter in Russia, some mountains, a european town with lands and a landing in the pacific.

Huge, for a Diorama but not impressive.
Most look like as a wargaming table.

An unbelivable mass of figures and vehicles in different scenario and conditions of weather.
Very ADM like.

The whole u turn sky, the mountains and the used area of its own are,WOW!

The intersting part is that it has still surwived 25 years and ADM get the power, interst for ten years to finish his (dream?) work.

Missed this post almost a year ago, but this is what I should call wonderland! This is what I would liked to have when I was a young boy!

Thanks for sharing and sorry for my late reply! ;-)

This is massive! So much to explore! Very cool stuff and a nightmare to clean it from dust.
