Second Boer War

Posted by Rich W on 03 May 2020, 12:49

Please find my latest efforts with the Strelets British Infantry Skirmishing set. This is a really nice set with well thought out poses and good details. A complete opposite to their original British Infantry set from several years ago. Joan (despertaferro) has posted amazing photos of his version of the Strelets figures, I tried to use his for my inspiration!

As always, feedback is welcome.

Nice figures. I used the same ( esci) figures to make Dutch troops of Knil during the ajeh wars

That's about as good as khaki/drab figures are going to look. A fitting sacrifice for Queen, country and De Beers. Best of luck Colonials, if the Boers don't get you the mosquitoes will.

Thank you for the feedback! This was an enjoyable set to paint, not having to worry about 18th century lace and trim etc was a relief!

Here are some Boers taken from Strelets first set of these (still haven't got round to buying their updated set yet).

Chock full of character! I like the colors you have selected. Will you give the new release a go when you get your hands on a set?

The British look fantastic.

The Boers are nice too but I think the new ones will be better for your talents.

Best wishes,

Chris

Thank you. I will be getting the new set (among with all the other Strelets Boer War sets). Just waiting to be able to buy them from an actual shop rather than online as I feel they will definitely need business to keep them going.

Those are looking great. The British especially came up very well - better sculpts I think? I really like your use of washes, they give a very lived in feel to the uniform. Excellent!

Here are some more British from the first Strelets set. PSR gives them a very negative review, but I must admit that I like the majority of the figures in the set (although there are a couple of terrible figures as well!). Thanks for looking.

When I do a comparison with your first post in this topic, I see a big process in painting! Great work Rich!

I have to agree on your comments on the Strelets figures. Some are horrible others not so. In some cases they are all we have to work with. I'm doing the Crimean War and they are really all I have. Your painting is excellent!!

Thanks for your positivity! Here are the Strelets Boer infantry from their newer set. This is a really nice set that compliments their newer British skirmishing release. Thanks for looking!
