Haganah in the Negev - Israel 1948

Posted by praga on 15 Sep 2020, 08:44

The Figures are from different manufacturers.
Mainly I used the new British tank soldiers in tropical uniform from Orion.
The Ford pickup is a diecast model from Cararama - but with scratch built tarpaulin and repainted by me.
The Otter is from IBG but with an Israeli machine gun turret.
The half-track is by PSC and also with a scratch built tarpaulin and various pieces of luggage.
The jeep is from S-Model.

An excellent piece of work in my opinion.

There is a real ‘ feel’ of the time here which is surely the point of diorama building.

The photography is exceptional although a few modern buildings have crept in.

The camera never lies!

This takes me back to the Exodus film and it’s like.

Brilliant work.

Best wishes,

Chris

Great Dio !
Lot of work is in it. Lot of vehicles.

I like,
that it look like a deep well.
the amount of nature.
the soldier who take a shower. And several of his comrades with a water bottle indicate me that there is no blizzard close to the Dio.
And the most I like is the use of an German Africa soldier by Revell

Pic are well done, too.
:yeah:

And the officer on the house top check the whole situation ?

I am very happy that you all like it.

C M Dodson - thanks for the praise - and the film Exodus is one of my favorite films already seen four times.
Mr. Andrea - thank you for the compliment.
Wiking - LOL - good idea and very funny to connect two different dios through the binoculars. The Afrikakorps soldier is originally from Matchbox. There are quite a few figures that I find first class and I use them again and again
Peter - no, Wiking is not my brother - maybe a brother in spirit.
Bluefalchion - Thanks a lot and cheers

I add myself to that admiration feeling, praga. You have achieved a fantastic work. :notworthy:

Perhaps the exuberant soldier lady comes from the also exuberant militiawoman made by Caesar Miniatures, but with a more military look?

I also used her in one diorama, but with less conversions than yours:

And this was the final result:

My best congratulations. :yeah:

A most impressive diorama with a lot going on in quite a small space. I particularly like the use of lighting to cast strong shadows, giving a very distinct impression of sun and heat. The trooper dousing himself with a bucket of water is a nice detail!

Had to get the contribution up again. I distributed some of the very beautiful LRDG figures from Strelets on the Dio. They fit very well into the Dio. But in direct comparison with figures from other manufacturers you can see that they are pretty small.
