Last day of Orctober: Empire vs Orcs

Posted by PhilC on 31 Oct 2020, 15:39

Hi gentlemen.

My fantasy Empire army is now complete, they're in time to try to repell the hordes of Orcs that try to plunder the province of Talabecland (see the project overview here: http://bennosfiguresforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=24022).

Let me first show the entire army:

Led by the Duke of Talabecland himself, they're ready to defend a small village against the invaders... beware, here they are!

They have a troll!

What do the Orcboyz of this forum think of the valiant men of the Empire ?

I like your fantasy Empire army much more than one from Games Workshop in a larger scale, PhilC. Fantastic painted figures and no less great scenary. :notworthy:

Congratulations. :yeah:

Your painting style suites this type of figure very well. Weapons, faces, folds in clothing, and armor all very well done!

Thank you all for your comments!
I'm happy with the result, but it is still a small army, I think of reinforcements. For those who are familiar with the Warhammer world, I will try to add Kislev allies, which will give me a reason to paint Polish Winged Hussars !

A warhammer army at a 1/5 of the price! Great painting and modelling.

Oh really! I didn't count, but you must be right, GW figures are so expensive...

Next step of the project, as I wrote above, will be to add Kislev ally troops.

In case this name isn't familiar to you, this is what it might look like (illustrated with 28mm figures):

Image

As you can see, I would need:
- heavy cavalry. The Polish Winged Hussars are the obvious inspiration - luckily, I have the Zvezda and Orion sets :)
- light cavalry. I think that Cossack cavalry (that I don't have) or even Huns by Hät and/or Lucky Toys (in stock at home) would do the job.
- infantry. After a look at PSR, I've chosen to use Redbox Ukrainian Cossack infantry sets, it should be close enough (I need to take an order somewhere)
- general on bear: hum, no idea for the moment...

What do you think of these choices ? Any other suggestion ?

Oh, and regarding the color scheme, either I stick to the historical models, or I use a Fantasy one, but maybe not light blue / red as illustrated on the picture above. Still to be determined, so if you have any suugestion...

Suggestions? Maybe you can add some mummies?

Seems to be an ambitious project. But it seems to be a cool army in the end. I think all the Cossak and Russian sets from RedBox might be a good choice.
