There are always several steps in my painting method, here you are.
1. Iron
- the first layer is painted with GW Boltgun Metal
- I add a layer of dark brown wash
- I lighten with GW Mithril Silver
GW stands for Games Workshop, acrylic paints.
If you want to add rust, you will need black wash, dark brown and red brown spots.
2. Brass
- First layer of Revell Gold (enamel paint, the GW acrylic Gold isn't good IMO)
- layer of dark brown wash
- enlightenment with Revel Gold
- 2nd enlightenment with Mithril Silver on some spots if necessary
The corrosion is made with a mix of blue, green and white, several layers with more and more white.
Here's an example of corrosion for Iron, Bronze and Copper:
Hope it helps
