"Queens Own" 4th Dragoon Regiment

Posted by Bill Slavin on 17 Dec 2020, 18:23

HI all,

PhilC's advent calendar, along with Marvin's Christmas soldiers that have often be shared on this forum, inspired to give my next offering a Christmas feel.

I recently finished my first unit of British Heavy Dragoons, deciding on the 4th “Queens Own” due to their long history of involvement in the Peninsular Wars. As I painted them up I thought they looked so Christmassy in their red and green that they would make the perfect Christmas post!

These figures are the new Peninsular War HaT Heavy Dragoon set, the second of two sets in which I participated in the crowd-funding campaign. For my own short review of this set, problems encountered and overcome and a few more seasonally inspired pictures, there is more on my blog:

Happy holidays!

Excellent! I love the way you create your scenes as if you were a movie director... and the Hät figures look great under your brush !

Well done Bill on rescuing these disasters and making something decent of them.

It is to be hoped that Hat learn quickly from these mistakes and order is restored in the ranks.

Wishing you and your family a very pleasant Christmas time.

Best wishes,

Chris

Thanks, all.

PhilC, thanks for the inspiration!

Wiking, they do look like a line of Santas, don't they? I should have added antlers to their mounts!

Chris, I have so many of these I have to make them work! That and there are no real alternatives. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.

Bill

Fantastic stuff! Rehabilitating a deeply flawed figure into something salvageable is part of the fun, for me. You have certainly done that and more with these heavies.

I agree completely with PhilC opinion. Your staging is always spectacular, Bill.
