Star Wars - Battle of Hoth / New Pictures!

Hi Folks,

here are some pics of my Star Wars diorama showing the famous battle on the Hoth ice planet from the Film "The Empire Strikes Back"

AT-AT and Snowspeeders are from Revell (AT-AT-with some light upgrade detailing) and the figs are modified Valiant US-Infantry. The defence tower is from a 28mm miniature collective game and made from a very rubberish material....it was upgraded with a 37mm Flak barrel. The scale of this diorama is roughly 1/72, but it´s SciFi, so who cares? The overall effect is good for me.

Wanted to do some pictures outside today in sunny winter weather but the Bavarian forest in the background does not fit the film this time, even with some snow on the trees.

The snowspeeders are fixed with wire to the ground and to the walker. It looks quite odd on some pictures but the effect is OK, when you watch the diorama from the front.

Very nice Thomas.

The best picture in my opinion is the running men and the explosion.

There is a real ‘feel’ of the film in that shot.

Thank you all for the comments. No, sorry, I don´t have any WIP pics. But it wasn´t that much work. Finished it within two weeks. Overall working time was about 30-40 hours I think. The modified figs took just a few hours (including painting Job)….had to watch the film scenes a few time to get the right stuff and colors.

Where do the Rebel soldiers come originally from??

US Infantry by Valiant with some German heads (field caps) by Valiant....Hard plastic figures and therefore quite easy to convert. I used the radios from the set as backpacks.
