Flank Attack at Ventosa - Battle of Vimeiro 21st August 1808

Posted by Bill Slavin on 24 Mar 2021, 15:55

We finally got around to playing the second of Jonathan Jones’ Vimeiro scenarios last week - Flank Attack at Ventosa from his O’er the Hills Early Peninsular War Scenarios book, and I thought I would post a few pictures from the action. It has a few of my most recently painted units in play (I tend to paint what I need for my next scenario!) including a fresh battlaion of French Legere (the Incomparable 9th, although not in this fight) and a couple new British battalions.
Here is a link to the full blow by blow with a load more photos, if you are interested:

And a few pics of the action:

I'm always impressed when I see your newly painted units, but seeing them in action, they look even better.

Thanks, Graeme. For me as a gamer their whole raison d’etre is to be on the gaming table, preferably viewed from ground level like I always did as a kid!

Very nice indeed with great pictures on your lovely terrain.

The action report makes good reading and the troops look great.

Best wishes,

Chris

Looks like a massive conflict. And I agree with the others about the lovely painted figures and the impressive terrain.

What a dreamy looking table. You have my total respect for the lovely painting work and envy to actually be playing a game. Great stuff!

Thanks all.
Yes, Bessiere, Covid has certainly curtailed our gaming! My only gaming partner these days is a friend that lives in the same quiet corner of the world as I do and like me, rarely leaves his home!
