As always, your dio gives a fascinating glimps at a forgotten section of history. Wonderful stuff!

Bill, when you go into your frozen Canadian back yard, do you ever see abandoned German weather monitoring stations?

I agree with Bluefalchion's opinion, Wiking. You have achieved another very original and well made work, with the ever present animal, in this case the polar bear threatening the German workers

Best regards. ;-)

A fascinating little piece of history and presented with the classic light hearted Wiking touch.

Great job on the weather station components and the frozen ground. And I really like the corner vignette of the two guys unloading the inflatable raft.

It was before the Covid holiday travel restrictions.

@ Fire at Will.

The Wampa ( icebear) was really shot.
I find a pic with the death icebear on the U Boot with some sailors behind him. Trophy pic.
The pingu is simply on my free mind.
The idea is s bit of a copy of Uli Stein
Comic drawing.
A person surrounded by pingu with her sharp "noses" in the water secured by a rubber rescure ring.
" PINGU MAKE NO NONSEN,
PLEASE".

On behalf of my fellow compatriots, I would like to say I am honoured by this homage to our forgotten history. We all know here in Canada that U-Boats operated in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, but I don't think many of us realize we were invaded. (We had bookmarked the last of that nonsense at 1871 and the Fenian invasions.)
Another wonderfully quirky diorama, Wiking, and a very interesting back story. It's good that the Germans potted the bear because he would have had them for lunch.
As far as bear safety goes, the local advice is to always walk with a partner, and to make sure that it is somebody who runs slower than you do.

The penguins live only in the southern hemisphere, so the presence of the penguin in the diorama, is a mistake.

Is that little boat the same one from the Airfix US Marines?

Maybe you can trim the beak and make it into a puffin? :-D
But then, no drama...

I am going to admit that I find the penguin delightful and when it comes to delight vs accuracy I am firmly on the side of delight. I know that not all will agree with me but I must admit it just the same.
