The Dirty Half Hundred and Skirmish command stands

Posted by Bill Slavin on 03 Apr 2021, 15:34

Here are some pics of some recent Napoleonics I painted. These are mostly more figures from Emhar, part of a gift of a couple of hundred figures a friend gave to me. Six years ago, when I started my Napoleonic collection, I shied away from these guys, thinking their poses were a bit stiff, but having now painted some up, I have to say it really is a nice set!
I also did a couple of generic command stands for my light infantry to use when they are fielded as ad hoc battalions on my tiny battlefields.
If you are interested, I have a few more pictures and a bit of history about the 50th here on my blog:

A treat for the eyes as always. It looks like you took advantage of the poseable Emhar plastic to create some variation, or are my eyes deceiving me?

You know, I didn’t. They are straight out of the box - but I should have! Your eyes may be perceiving the few HaT and Italeri figures that are in the mix - command stand and flank companies.

I love your bases and painting style a lot ...
I also base mine on two lines, but organized with six figures / base.
Great job!

Very nice as always Bill.

The Emhar figures are great but you are right about the marching poses. They are very stiff looking.

The French marching are more natural I feel.

Best wishes,

Chris

Wonderful painted soldiers with so many nice details. Do you use them for wargames?

Absolutely! I couldn't stand leaving my toys in a drawer. These guys were a stand in for another regiment with black facings (the 6th) in our recent re-fight of the Ventosa flank attack - they were heroes, stabilizing the British line before succumbing beneath waves of French column attacks. Pic #35 here:

Thanks, all, for the kind comments. It's great to have this forum to share work on - I always enjoy seeing what everyone is up to.

Although this is not my period (sorry guys) i always have great admiration for the members that paint napoleonics with al the detail on the uniforms. And talking about details, the stand with the officer/drummer and flag is really super  :yeah: :yeah:
