Engineers and workers (Germania figures)

Posted by Arbogastiz on 03 Aug 2021, 21:09

Hello guys, my recently painted figures. Really enjoyed painting them, due to great details and correct anatomy. It's not hard to guess what my inspiration was, if you know I imagined them as Harland & Wolff shipyard designers and workers from years 1908-1912 :)

Very nice and highly original.

I think the eyes work better on some rather than others but there is an excellent collective ‘feel’ of the period.

Best wishes,

Chris

I really like those figures and what you have done with them. I would echo Chris’s thoughts about the eyes (so tricky!) but the fabric and tones are handled very nicely!

To be honest - I didn't paint the eyes, I left washed eyesockets only (diluted GW Contrast Guilliman Flesh). I gave finished figures to my buddy Arek, and he decided to painted them before sending miniatures to the final customer (Germania)

Fabulous painting on fabulous figures, very good to see.

I like the executive types in the greatcoats, sobering to think one is probably Thomas Andrews.

On a lighter note, some of those ship painters and red leaders look like they're reading their texts.

Lots of these figures I have seen on pictures at The Red Star Museum In Antwerp. This museum is worth a visit when you are for example at the "CRISIS" in the Waagnatie. The museum is on the other side of the road. A visit is about 90 minutes; ;-)

Thanks Peter! I saw the Logo of the Red Star Line but never came up with the idea, that this might be a museum. Looks really interesting. Back in 1997 I had the chance to see original remnants of equipment and other stuff from the Titanic. At that time a great exhibition was on tour also in Europe.

I've seen that temporary exhibition of the Titanic to. And I have been on the end point of the Red Star line at Ellis Island, New york, Manhattan.

But the point is that these figures are wonderfull for that time! ;-)
