Musketeer of the king of France redbox 145

Hello,
I'm done with these fourteen figures from the redbox N°145



All that's missing is a coat of matte varnish when I get home next week and a small group photo.
Really nice to paint, the preparation of the figures is a bit of a problem... the quality of the plastic is bad and removing the moulding lines is very difficult.
Nevertheless, they are beautiful figures.




























































I still have to apply a matte varnish when I get home
and find out how I can present them for a nice family picture.

Excellent painting of these attractive figures. It looks as if you have replaced the moulded plastic sword blades with convincing miniature rapiers. What have you used for these replacement blades?

I cut the blades of the rapiers and replaced them with a sewing pin cut to 1.5cm which gives the actual 1/72 dimension of a 110cm rapier of that era...

Wow great job with those figures. Now that they have rapiers with a truly sharp point, they will have to be handled with care.

What technique did you use to mount the cut down pins onto the plastic hilts? The angle you have chosen looks quite convincing in each instance. Marvelous!

To fix the blade, I made a hole with a small drill of the diameter of the pin. I cut the pin to about 1.7cm and then just pushed the pin into the hole in the glue. You just have to be careful about the angle of the hole when drilling.

I also bought this set and was amazed at how precious it was , but when I tried to remove the excess plastic to painted any of the figures, I found that the result was disastrous, so I abandoned the task. A real pity.
