My latest purchase

Posted by dykio on 19 Aug 2021, 14:11

Since all the strelets figures al sold out at the moment :-D :-D :-D i had to turn to something else. So completely to my surprice i saw this item on marketplace and after very short negotiations i bought it for just 30 euros. And even though i had to drive 150km to get it :-D :-D it still feels like a bargain.

@ Fire at Will
Do you paint it in your second or in your third live.
I just ask to to organize my stash to bring along with your work my models in my second live.

Here is a list and my current plan
Mars 72123 German paras tropical (RR&M) x 0.5 - heavy weapons for my German FJ
Pegasus Mission Indians - Oxen for my Spanish limbers and the monks
Strelets 176 Japanese Type 38 75mm Field Gun - start of my Japanese force for Battlegroup
Strelets 238 British Cavalry x 2 - enough to finish Palme's brigade and adda couple of French cavalry units
Strelets 239 French Royal Horse Grenadiers - missed these from the last order
Strelets 243 British Artillery - The next piece of the jigsaw for the WSS, though I'll probably use some Zvezda GNW bits as well
Strelets 244 French Artillery - as above
Strelets 254 French Dragoons in skirmish - will wait till Strelets release their mounted counterparts
Strelets 275 - Nap. Austrian Uhlans - a gap in my Nap collection + the nice civilians
Strelets 276 - Nap. Russian Hussars in reserve
Strelets 277 - Nap. French Guard Chasseurs
Strelets 292 - WWI French Field Kitchen - every army should have one
Strelets M081 - WWII Afrika Korps desert patrol x 0.5 - I just like the figures
Strelets M114 WWII Japanese Troops in Tropical Uniform - start of my Japanese force for Battlegroup
Strelets M115 Japanese Army in defense - start of my Japanese force for Battlegroup
Strelets M121 Imperial Japanese Army Heavy Weapons Team - start of my Japanese force for Battlegroup
Strelets M151 - WWII Moroccan Goumiers - A cool unit for WW2

Now that is an impressive shopping spree!!!!!!

A nice big purchase, and good to see Strelets and their new releases being fully supported. Mine -spread over two different retailers - is pretty much the same, barring the Japanese sets (I don't 'do' Japanese 1931-45 as a matter of principle...but that's purely a personal choice).

I received some models from a friend Simon, that convinced me to take the plunge and buy an Elegoo Saturn 3D printer

Image

I anticipate a slow learning curve

But at last I can produce some of those models I want in the scale I want in 1/76 to match Airfix/Fujimi

Then there is the possibilities of various wagons and limbers.

And ultimately 20mm figures

Fire at Will--

Exciting news, but I can't help but thinking that the thing looks like an infernal contraption, as we Yanks so often used to say.

It is mainly going to be tanks and vehicles at first, except for a couple of freighters for cruel seas and a 28mm priest for a D&D game at the club (I'll also try printing him in 20mm as well as a test)

The STL files for 20mm figures (and 28mm) I have found so far seem to be either for D&D or are very crudely modelled.

Fire at Will, is it resin or ABS filament? looking forward to see what you can do :) . I've been interested and tempted by 3d printers for a long time, but the low resolution on filament, and the alleged fumes & toxicity of most resins have taken me aback.

All the same, it is indeed the future, one day we'll all have one :P .

That is quite a machine, and more than an average 'monthly purchase'. Will be very interesting to see how production goes. Good luck!

It's a resin printer. I'm using a water soluble resin and it does smell a bit, but I'm using it in my old office with the window open, which will work OK for summer. For my first test I printed some figures, but I'm waiting for them to cure. I had ordered a UV curing box but Amazon cancelled that order just before delivery was due and then raised the prices. I'm now waiting for one bought off ebay, which typically was delivered while I was out gaming on Saturday and won't be redelivered until Wednesday. So I'm hoping for the sun to shine so my prints will cure outside.

Are the Russian hussars are back in stock finally? I already had two sets of them and I hoped to sell them and then buy a house in my hometown. So now chance anymore. ;-)

Yes, ordered from Poland (Martola webshop). Price was a bit more than 8€ (+ P&P). Funny thing, few weeks after my order I got Zvezda pricelist from local dealer. It was about 1€ cheaper.

I had one and I was trying to buy more. My thoughts about price were similar. When Zvezda reissued this set I said to myself "Now or never" :xd:

Placed an order for Linear-A's Seleucids, Celts vs Carthaginians, Hannibal's Triumphal Entry, Etruscan Cavalry, Samnite Wars and some Dacian sets from Strelets. The grey pile grows...

Nice big purchase...and indeed, winter is coming.

I wonder whether HaT will ever complete their Sassanid range? I am not holding out much hope, I'm afraid....

I bought early Christmas gifts for myself. I know, bad boy.
Hat products
4 French Guard Chasseurs
5 Russian 1805 infantry
2 French 1808-1812 Infantry
2 Austrian Infantry marching

1 Orion Cossack artillery and infantry
1 Redbox Cossack cavalry (set1)
2 Redbox Russian light infantry
1 Zvezda Peter the Great artillery (for Napoleonic Cossack irregulars using old guns)

I have several other Cossack sets I've been itching to do for 3 years so I'mfinally allowing myself to get started on a Russian army after nothing but French and Austrians for those 3 years. I never dreamed it would take me this long just to do 2 armies to game with. I still need to bulk up the line infantry units for both. Seems like a dozen battalions just isn't going to do.
