War of Spanish Succession

I am once more flashed by your painting skills that came up during the time I have the chance to follow them here at Bennos. The shading and the highlights on the red is very good looking. I have to repeat that I am a real fan of your WSS armies.

Here are my French artillery, which will one day (if I ever get my act together) be defending Blenheim. Figures a mixture of Strelets and Zvezda GNW Swedes. The guns are quite poor, but the figures in the Strelets set are, at least in my opinion, really good. Just a shame about the British artillery set they did (which I've just started and think that half the poses are just rubbish!).

As always, thanks for looking and feedback/constructive criticism is welcome!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Super painted crew. I like the red one. Is this a uniform that indicates a rank, is it an alternative, or did he simply left of the light grey jacket?

Happy Christmas to you!

The red is the waistcoat normally worn under the grey coat, but U expect often removed by the hard working gunners

You have done a fine job on these French gunners and their guns Rich. Well done!

I agree with you about the two guns that come with each of the WoSS artillery sets from Strelets. They are rather small and rather crude compared with the beautiful artillery pieces that are provided in the Zvezda GNW sets. Even so, you have managed to bring these Strelets guns to life with a very good paint job.

I sense that your defenders of Blenheim village are increasing in number and are coming on nicely!

Thanks everyone for your feedback and kind words! I'm really enjoying the fact that there are multiple forum members all doing the WSS project-I take great inspiration (and a lot of copying!) from everyone else's work with these sets!

Next up, French line cavalry. This is the Regiment de Tarneau, who were stationed just to the left of the village of Blenheim. I've used the new Strelets French Dragoons (late war) set and the horses from the British (late war) cavalry set. If I'm honest, I don't think the figures or horses are the best work from this WSS range. Although I do like the actual poses. There are several inaccuracies with these figures, all of which i've chosen to accept (I know real purists wouldn't be able to accept these errors). The jackets should be done up, they should have wider strap, the musket/carbines should be hanging the other way around, they shouldn't have powder flasks etc etc. Also, i forgot to do the trumpeter, so he'll have to join his squadron a bit later.

As always, feedback is very welcome!
