Roman Catapult

This is the Strelets kit of a Roman catapult. The catapult was a really nice kit. I omitted the spoon and added the sling cradle.....plus a few more details. The figures were pretty poor. I had to do a lot of mold line clean up. In some cases, I even had to carve away excess plastic. Stockpiled rock projectiles are made out of green stuff. The rest of the camp extras are made out of styrene.













All in all, it was a fun project. Input and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for allowing me to post in this wonderful forum. Happy modeling!

It's testimony to your painting and diorama skills that these figures don't look poor at all. The overall effect is really impressive. I'm a fan of the old Strelets figures and they do benefit from careful painting and construction like this.

Wow, a very nice diorama of high quality building and painting. I like it very much. Siege machines (medieval in my case, which is more or less the same like in ancient times) are one of my favourite subjects.

I also really like your wood painting, I have trouble getting that honey looking wood color. My wood turns out more brown like its all made of walnut.

Congratulations for this gorgeous diorama, Bill! I also like very much the texture of the wood in the catapult, it looks quite natural, as if it was made of raw and recently cut and assembled pieces of wood. And despite the headaches these miniatures gave you, the results are brilliant. In my opinion, a neat paintjob and a very lifelike scene with lots of details in the tools and furniture.

I would say that the tree looks a bit unnatural to me, but it kind of completes the composition of the scene very well.
