Anglo Saxon Fryd

Posted by ells10 on 03 Apr 2022, 14:51

Like most people I had a few spare figures knocking about and I thought I would carry out a little experiment. These figures started life as Newline Designs Gothic Archers and Maccabean Archers, they are now part of my Anglo-Saxon Fryd army, what do you think?

These look perfectly OK to me as Anglo-Saxon Fryd archers. The sculpts themselves are fine, and the short bows are representative of 'English' archery before the advent of the longbow a few centuries later. Shooting a bow while wearing a cloak can be a bit awkward, especially in a breeze, but only a few of these have cloaks anyway.
The painting and colour scheme is effective, so I'd say this is an 'experiment' that works pretty well.

Very nice with good faces.

Stretched sprue bow strings would enhance them even more.

Best wishes,
