Hi guys,
i had a bit of a motivation problem for the painting of figures so i decided to build a fortress for my ffl and arabs. Now this is a combination of wip and gallery so quite a long post, Hope you enjoy it !!
Since we bought some stuff at ikea we had loads and loads of cardboard lying around so i thought why not use that.
So i started of by cutting and gluing the rough shape of the fortress together.
normally i draw something so i know how it has to be build... but in this case i just went along and in the end (after throwing away what i didnt like) i became like this
i have never used only cardboard as a base and wanted to put plaster over it. Since i had no idea how the carboard would react i decided to put some paint over it first. Just cheap wallpaint btw.
doors and small windows i made from cheap toothpicks. These are flat ones and very usefull
i just glue them on a piece of cardboard and then cut them in the right size
And the wooden support beams i made of coffee stirrers also cut to size
and it really started to look like something
the next step was putting plaster on it. also just cheap plaster mixed with only water. I dont have any photos of this proces because it was really really really messy and i also had to do it quite quick before the plaster dried. So a tip from me... just make smaller portions of plaster
But the result wasnt to bad and even more important... it stayed on
next i made the main doors. Now here is another tip. Better first make a plan how to fix them instead pf what i did doig it at the end. Ik had to cut pieces of plaster away to fix them and the whole step was quite frustrating.
but in the end i got them fixed.. and after some colour washes etc it looked like this
and so it was finished and the new inhabitants arrived
and they even took their own plant with them
I hope you enjoy this and next time it will be some figures again !!
Laterrrrrr
