Achilles, Tiger and CMP Tractor

Posted by MABO on 03 Sep 2023, 17:56

Instead of finishing the model kits I had started, I naturally started new things again over the summer, but not as many as I had planned. :stressed:

Here are the results:

I was really keen on building this Achilles from Armourfast. Mainly because I had bought years ago an Achilles Conversion set from Early War Miniatures.

It was not easy to find all the positions for the parts without instructions, but in the end - I hope - I put it all together correctly. I am quite satisfied, because the additional equipment really enhances the very simple Armourfast sets and it is especially nice to have a crew. Even now it's still a bit "basic", but I was glad to have finally managed to make a first attempt with the EWM sets. I have two or three more...

Then I built a CMP Tractor from Plastic Soldier Company, quite simple, but I think okay in the end. I like the British and Canadian design.

I had to do some research on the markings. And even in my rather extensive collection of books, there are still not answers to everything.

And finally, I have taken another step on the long road to a convincing depiction of the camouflage scheme of the German vehicles in Normandy or in the final phase of the Second World War. I also tried my luck with a Tiger. Also a model from Plastic Soldier Company.

The model represents the respectable quality of the company's sets. However, I must say in all modesty that I am quite satisfied with the result of the painting. I tried a new technique and worked a little more wet on wet. I also applied the camouflage stripes very diluted. What do you think? :eh:

I will now get back to the many projects I have started, as time permits...

I like all three vehicles, Jan, but my favourite is the Tiger because of its fantastic camouflage scheme.

Great job, my friend.

I like the way you pimped up the tanks.
I bought some some tanks from amorfast at the figs this year to use them for "Bolt action".
will try to get them as good as yours.

They are from EWM now [smile] but I thought they looked familiar, so I asked and Paul T from EWM confirmed that some of the range was acquired from Skytrex some years ago when Skytrex sold off some of their ranges. Which is great because I can now match and restock my dwindling supply.

Great Stowage is GREAT, and that is a lovely M10,

I have to resist looking at WW 2 models too closely for fear of catching the bug. I can't keep up with Napoleonics so starting Ww2 units is out the question. That said I do love them, especially models like yours Mabo. Superb work sir! that Tiger I belongs in the Panzer Lehr. Camo pattern is lovely. Achilles is a very cool model as well, not so common but one helluva AT gun.
Cheers,

Fantastic work on these vehicles.

You have really transformed that Achilles with your extras and the camouflage on the Tiger is excellent.
Best wishes,

Chris

Hi ,Jan.
Beautiful models you have built. From the Achilles you got everything out what goes, The CMP goes on the basis of the single picture somewhat under. The Tiger is the camouflage scheme fully succeeded. He could use a little more mud.

Hi Jan,
I see that you get your painting and modelling skills for WWII really up to top notch. The Tiger camouflage looks really good and the detailing on all models is a success in my opinion.
Greetings
Michael
