I was looking at Will at Wars lastest entry on his blog, about casualty figures.

I was wondering who uses them to game?

I use little skull markers & dice but I must admit the visual look of "dead" figures is impressive.

i prefer use dead figs as moral marker to use piece of paer and other things ..
in my opinion piece of paper do not match with a good terrain..you cna also make moral makers to for particular moral status like disorder,rally etc..

My players all like casualty figures, it gives them some kind of sick sense of achievement to see a trail of bodies.

Wouldn´t use them for gaming myself, but they do look good set up with the rest of the bods.
I suppose that basically they should be included in all wargames, to remind us all what the result of "sharp bits of metal and explosives" really is.

I like casualty markers to indicate morale status - though I also saw some recently that just used penny pieces flocked up (like a base) that looked good and was a quicker and cheaper way of representing morale.

Though plastic figures should be easy to convert into convincing casualties. I bought some Newline Roman EIR casualty figs recently so I'm looking forward to having some carnage behind my legions as well.

I have got round to painting up some EIR casualty markers where the legionaries have gone to the Elysian fields and also some morale/status markers:





In FoG the coin markers can be used for disorder and the casualty markers for disruption (or just to look "pretty" on the battlefield)

I started using them for Black Powder as I found I keep picking up the dice used to illustrate the number of casualties, now I've started I am slowly creating markers for various periods.

Strangely enough I was going to ask wether anyone would buy sets of casualties and mention that Airfix used (still does) have dead and wounded in thier sets, then what do I see, loads of Airfix dead bods..

What are the numbers for!??? It´s a bit annoying not knowing...I keep trying to work it out..but nothing. The standing bods in the first picture have no numbers on the bases so why the wounded??
