1808 French in Greatcoats

Posted by Bill Slavin on 02 Mar 2017, 15:49

I've checked in here a few times and have always been blown away by the work shown here, and a couple of people have recommended that, as a 1/72 fan, I might want to post on this dedicated forum. Here is my latest attempts, a couple of regiments of French line (54th and 95th) for my Peninsular French. I've been waiitng eons for the HaT 1808 greatcoat set to come out and finally couldn't wait any longer, so I head swapped some and mixed them in with some French 1808 Line. Added a few shako covers and sun cloths at back to try and give them that veteran look.
I have a bit more information here on my blog about the conversions: http://tinywarsplayedindoors.blogspot.ca/2017/02/54th-and-94th-line.html

Welcome to the forum. It is a fine place to learn and improve. Your figures, though, are already quite good. You are going to fit in here quite nicely.

Excellent work, Bill! Love your painting style. :yeah:

Like you, I've used this set with head conversions before, but never thought to add the 'legionnaire'-style neck protector to the replacement head. I might try that myself!

And welcome to the forum! :-D

I love your work! I really like the battle hardened look you give to them. And, in my opinion, the lack of uniformity make them more realistic and alive than the “parade” arrangements.

Congratulations!

I can remember doing conversions of this Hat Set that had really tiny heads, until I lobbed them of quick smart and painless.I then pinned knew heads on Bill, like your good self. I like your work and I`m glad that you are posting here upon this Forum.More Napoleonic`s? Yes please, and rest assured your efforts and comments will be well appreciated here. BB
