Sassanid army

Posted by dykio on 21 Jan 2022, 20:13

Hi fellowmembers,

this is my first post of this year but i promise you it wont be my last (wich gives me 11 months to finish another project... seems reasenable :-D )

I bought the complete range of the hat sassanids and i must say, apart from the horrible plastic of the cavalry sets, they are realy realy nice figures. And i realy hope that they will finish the other 2 sets which are still in development......

So here they are.

A splendid effort!

I've been tempted by what looks like a very attractive range of figures.
I think you're correct in thinking HaT won't complete the range. The difficulty is finding anything of the same size & style.

You could use Tumbling Dice metals.....but they are noticeably larger. Etc. This is the reason I have not bought HaT Sassanids.

Chariobaude might hopefully weigh in & offer knowlegeable suggestions.

superb army certainly!
Sadly, I'm like Donald: I never made a Sassanid army for lack of enrollable troops. Only Hät did a remarkable but unfinished job, and above all made the mistake of making miniatures of such a small size that it is almost impossible to mix them with others from conversions. Of course, there's Zvevda's cataphract catch-all set, but they're gigantic compared to these miniatures (http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=1715). Or one can risk a bit of historical nonsense by using the Parthian heavy cav (http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=1133), but in view of this work done, I would definitely not recommend it!

Super, splendid army Dykio,
You made them very colourful - at least the light and the cavalry.
I share the taste that the Hät foot troops are actually quite well done. I use them for many different epochs. Never bought the Hät Sassanid horse.
I feel like Chariobaude - use Zvesda cataphract (even if big) and maybe even the Skyths as horse archers
With Linear-A pumping up there might be more horse archers on the way some day.

I just made another request to hat to finish the rest but that for sure wil be in vain i guess. Which is a shame because if you look at there horrible ww1 italians output they had better put that energy in there sassanids masters

up to the next (hedendowah) project
